Mamfene

I promise to never say negative words about my body, my skin, and my mind.

It must be this new era – I am magic built from #BlackGirlMagic.

I am brave and ready for my blessings.

I will let no person tell me twice that they do not want me.

I am the QUEEN of my kingdom.

when describing me never use the words pretty as that is an understatement of who I truly am.

Life is truly oh so beautiful.

“Everything you want is on the other side of fear”

I would like to appeal to the youth of South Africa as well as the world – I would like to highlight a few things turning 22 in July 2016 taught me. This post is linked to this website because this website was a leap of faith for me, it was me taking charge of my future and following my dreams of becoming a hot shot (for lack of a better word) in the fashion industry. For a long time I delayed pursuing my dreams because I felt like I was betraying the people who have supported me for the past 22 years of my life but – my loving boyfriend told me not to further delay my dreams as this is doing more damage than good. This reminded me that the hardest thing would be giving up this dream and love (obviously) this was not an option. From this I have learnt that it is important to create an environment that allows everyone to do what is best for them because they are the only ones walking in their shoes. On that note: I want to encourage each and everyone of you to follow your dreams, be strong enough to create opportunities when there are none. South Africa currently has a dramatically high unemployment rate this means that you are not guaranteed to find a job, this therefore means don’t rely on one way of earning an income. Secondly I encourage all of you to have faith and to remain true to your end goals and to undertsand that with hard work things will fall into place (They way that they should). Thirdly take risks, do the unexpected early on and believe in yourself always. I needed someone to remind me of the importance of not allowing people’s views to offend nor dictate the way I want to live my life.

I write this stuck in a degree I hate, and see no future career advancement in. Knowing that I might have to go and work in the field breaks my heart and has lead me into a state of constant anxiety (You do not want to be this person). Everyday of my 4 years studying this degree I have dreamt of how different things would be if I had gone to fashion school and studied the business of fashion on a global scale. Yes the power is in the hands of those who fund my studies but I will not allow that to be an excuse for me to forget about my dreams therefore you shouldn’t too. The above is no doubt detrimental to ones mental health, but then again in life  you need to dig deep and re-establish your strength. Never fall into the trap of confusing your dreams with other people’s dreams because what makes someone else happy and will not necessarily make you happy. My motto in life is: ‘I am entering a season of consecutive wins’ this applies to my daily efforts and hard work towards becoming the strong, independent and powerful women I want to be. Therefore knowing the women I want to be has assisted me in more ways than one.Lastly and I think more importantly do not forget to do your best in everything that you do, whilst having fun at the same time. I encourage you all to remain focused at all times because the enemy will try to distract you – I have understood both my fragility and strength in my 22 years and I now know what works for me and what doesn’t.

In the next five years I would like to run a successful business, live an adventurous life and have two children. This is the plan which I will supplement with prayer. Everything you dream, speak and put your mind to has no option but to become a reality. I pray for you all, I pray the heavens to guide you.

PS: As much as professions are not as disparate as they might seem find what you like and make sure you SLAY !!!!

What can a fashion stylist do for me

So we have been receiving different questions about what fashion stylists do, therefore we came up with our own question – ‘What can a fashion stylist do for me?’

A fashion stylist can assist you in developing and enhancing your unique sense of style, we look to assist you in crafting your image. We ensure that you understand that looking your best leaves a powerful impression, this is guaranteed to draw more success into your life.

As Cake Addict Styles our goal is to personalize your experience – our focus is on those who are embarking on a new career, graduating, going on a date, casual make-over, preparing for an important occasion, your travel wardrobe but most importantly we look to ensure each person has their signature look as this helps with building their personal brand.

The evaluation of ones wardrobe is crucial and is the first step because it allows us to identify the ill-fitting clothing and revamping those items which are outdated by combining them with accessories or recreating the entire clothing from a dress to a jumpsuit if need be.

What we consider is your current lifestyle, body type, style preferences as well as your BUDGET. Because we understand that sometimes ones weight fluctuates – Cake Addict Styles offers you tailoring services to ensure that your wardrobe is  updated for a reasonable out-of-pocket expense.

As Cake Addict we also organize wardrobes and create weekly looks for the busy beee’s that want to look nice but do not have the time to set out looks daily.

Keep Outsiders looking IN

We have been focused on what really matters to us most lately which is ensuring that the head wrap is incorporated in each look we create. The universe has allowed for us to gain some clarity on some issues on styling with regards to african accessories. This forced us to keep our head above water by remaining stable on the home front (How dramatic right) LOL

For this shoot we literally tried to reinvent old styles by mixing them with what is trending right now. The off the shoulder look is a favorite this season because it screams sexy without being too revealing, this trend can be worn by anyone and everyone – NO LIMITATIONS therefore this one should stay.

Understanding the body of the person you are styling is very important when fashion styling as this assists them in becoming and looking confident in the outfit.

A bonus is making sure that you change the mind of the person you’re styling when they wear something they have never tried or think is not their style

Risk taking is beautiful and can be seen here in how a head wrap was made into a boob-tube top as well as a belt made into a chocker. A tip we can give to everyone is that nothing is useless in your closet.
